Two people were injured in a brazen midday shooting outside of a market in Hyde Square on Wednesday.

The shooting took place around 2:45 pm by the Pimentel Market at 340 Centre St. Multiple witnesses have said they heard up to six shots ring out.

Boston Police arrived and found an injured female, and at first it was believed she was shot, but later at the hospital doctors said they thought she was hit by glass, said Boston Police District E-13 Captain John Greland, who addressed the media after the shooting.

"And then a little while later after, a male got himself to the hospital...and he was shot. He's got a good graze over the top of his head," said Greland, adding the male victim may have have been shot in the shoulder.

Greland added that two bullet holes could plainly be seen in the market's door.

District 6 City Councilor Matt O'Malley tweeted that he was with Nika Elugardo, the Democratic Party nominee for the 15th Suffolk District, and that police said the shooting was not random.

This is the second shooting in the last week in Jamaica Plain. On Saturday night a man was shot dead by a barbershop at 140 South St.
