Longtime Centre Street business, Fire Opal, will be closing its Jamaica Plain store after 35 years.

Fire Opal proprietors Sue Stein and Steve Murakishi. Their Jamaica Plain store will be closing in June 2019 after 35 years of business in the neighborhood. He is retiring.

Fire Opal announced in a Facebook post by proprietors Sue Stein and Steve Murakishi that it will be closing its small family business in June, but will be keeping its Brookline store location open. Murakishi is planning on retiring.

"We have enjoyed every minute of representing American Handmade Craft to our loyal and remarkable JP customers. We are so grateful to have had the
opportunity to be part of this beloved community. We are also grateful to our JP business friends that have always been so responsive in supporting
to our shared initiatives," says the Facebook post.

The lead-up to the store's closure means deep discounts, and everything must go, including display cases and fixtures. "If you have been coveting a favorite ring, mug or dress this might be your opportunity to OWN it," said the post.

Customers will still be able to order online from Fire Opal's website.
