Sherrill House Announces Appointments in IT, Finance

Sherrill House, a Jamaica Plain not-for-profit skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, has made several key appointments to its leadership team as the organization continues to grow and enhance its mission.

Sherrill House made the following appointments:

• Adam Fumia – Chief Information Officer
• Mark Altenweg – Chief Financial Officer
• Joao Santos – Director of Finance and Administration

“We are thrilled to have this talented group on our leadership team collectively providing decades of experience in these crucial operational areas,” said Patrick J. Stapleton, CEO of Sherrill House.

Fumia was promoted to CIO after serving as Sherrill House’s director of information technology. He oversees all IT systems, policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Fumia has also served as a liaison between the CEO and senior management team. Prior to joining Sherrill House two decades ago, Fumia worked for hospice care and visiting nurse organizations in Greater Boston. He studied English at Northeastern University.

Altenweg brings nearly three decades of accounting and financial management experience to the CFO position at Sherrill House. He is responsible for all financial aspects of the organization, from payroll and contracts to auditing and tax reporting procedures.

A certified CPA who lives in Chelmsford, Altenweg previously was the finance chief at a nonprofit long-term care organization in Lowell. He earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Bridgewater State University and a master’s degree in corporate finance from Bentley University.

Santos has more than 20 years of business management experience in the health care sector. In his role with Sherrill House, he has a wide range of responsibilities related to the financial operations of the facility, including accounting and payroll, as well as collaborating with the administrative team to ensure that services meet the highest quality standards.

A Sutton resident who is trilingual in English, Portuguese and Spanish, Santos holds an associate’s degree in business administration from MassBay Community College.

Located in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Sherrill House is a 196-bed, not-for-profit skilled nursing and rehabilitation center that provides high-quality short-term rehabilitation, traditional long-term care, hospice care, as well as specialized care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
