One Shot Dead in Egleston Square Daylight Shooting

Boston Police are searching for a suspect who ran up to a vehicle during the middle of the day, and brazenly opened fire on the car, killing one person. Police were called to the area of 3108 Washington St. around 2:22 pm, and found one adult male suffering from gunshot wounds, who was pronounced deceased at a local hospital, according to BPDnews.com. The Boston Police Department are investigating the shooting and asking anyone with information relative to the investigation to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at 617-343-4470. Shocking video footage of the shooter was recorded by at least two cameras, one by a driver's dash camera, that shows the suspect running down the street and up to a parked vehicle, and then opening fire at that vehicle's driver's side, reported WCVB.

Mildred Hailey Tenants Org Honored As BPD Crime Watch Group of the Year at National Night Out

The 38th Annual National Night Out in Boston was celebrated on Aug. 3rd, but due to virus considerations, the 2021 version was downsized from more traditional versions that have included neighborhood parties and caravans. The 2021 award winners were welcomed by the Boston Police Crime Watch Unit to a luncheon at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. The Mildred C. Hailey Tenants Organization was honored with the BPD District E-13 Crime Watch Group of the Year award.

Discuss Community Public Safety, Policing at Virtual JPNC Meeting

Residents are invited to hear from each other about public safety and policing in our community at the JPNC Public Safety Subcommittee on Police and Police Procedures on July 19. "Since convening, the Police Procedures Subcommittee has recommended a number of names to the [Office of Police Accountability and Transparency] Civilian Review Board, is working to create a neighborhood-wide Statement of Values for Public Safety, and has invited speakers to better understand legislation and proposals related to policing as part of our work. Events like this Listening Session will help us make sure our work benefits the entire JP community," said Paige Sparks, a member of the subcommittee. Boston Police District E-13 personnel have been attending the bi-weekly meetings of the subcommittee, but will not be participating in the event. "This is meant to be a community conversation, and therefore [Boston Police District] E-13 officers have expressed support in sitting this one out," said Sparks.

State Police Say Moped Operator Who Died in Forest Hills Accident Caused Crash

Massachusetts State Police believe that the driver of a moped who died in an accident on March 12 by Forest Hills was responsible for the crash. State Police say that Joseph Pielmeier, 30, was not wearing a helmet around 6:45 pm at night, drove through a red light at the intersection of South Street and Arborway, and struck the side of a 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan that had the green light, according the Massachusetts State Police. Pielmeier was thrown from his vehicle and struck the pavement. He was transported to Brigham & Women's Hospital and was pronounced dead on March 14, according to police. Police said Pielmeier had home addresses in Virginia, Boston, and Somerville.

BPD Recovers 455 Grams of Cocaine from Armstrong Street Bust

Boston Police recovered 455 grams of cocaine and $260,000 in an investigation that led to a 33-year-old man being arrested. Boston Police District E-13 Drug Control unit officers arrested Osvaldo Medina, 33, of Jamaica Plain, on Jan. 14, on charges of Trafficking Class B Drugs (+200 Grams), Distribution of Class A and B Drugs (2nd and Subsequent) and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs, according to BPDnews.com. The arrest was the result of a lengthy drug investigation in the area of 25 Armstrong Street in Jamaica Plain. Police placed Medina into custody after a brief foot pursuit.

One Person Dies From Union Avenue Fire

One person died from an early morning two alarm fire on Union Avenue on Dec. 26. Boston Firefighters responded to a fire at 24 Union Avenue in Jamaica Plain around 4 am. A fire was visible upon their arrival tweeted the Boston Fire Department. One person was brought to the hospital with life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased several hours later at the hospital.

No One Injured After Stones Fall Off Blessed Sacrament Church

For two days in a row the Boston Fire Department visited the Blessed Sacrament Church to attend to falling stones from the building. On Nov. 24, the Boston Fire Department tweeted that, "Some of the beautiful coping stones have show they're aging by falling to the steps below." No injuries were caused by the falling stones. The Blessed Sacrament Church is owned by Hyde Square Task Force, which purchased it in 2014 with the intent of redeveloping it into a community center.
