Boston For All Week – A JP Festival for Immigration Justice

June 9, 2019 @ 10:00 am - June 15, 2019 @ 3:00 pm

A free run/walk, a restaurant week and an art sale will raise money for girls' empowerment, refugees, and legal advocates for immigrants during events organized June 9-15 by Boston For All activists in partnership with Nika Elugardo and Boston City Councilor Matt O’Malley.

“We know our community is looking for a chance to help our neighbors, and the variety of opportunities to get involved offers everyone easy entry to be a part of the movement for an inclusive nation,” said Boston For All organizer Jeremy Fischer

The events will benefit three different organizations promoting justice for vulnerable people. The beneficiary organizations are: Redes en Accion Venezuela - a local organization focused on providing assistance to Venezuelan refugees settling in the Boston area; Komera - an organization working for the education and empowerment of girls in Rwanda; and The Boston Immigration Justice Accompaniment Network - a volunteer organization for legal advocacy supporting neighbors targeted and detained by ICE. With a focus on offering in-court support, connecting those in custody to legal aid and helping them to make bond, BIJAN is an important force in the local movement for immigration justice.

Boston City Councilor Matt O’Malley has been a proud partner of Boston For All for the past year. “I’m excited to part of the team organizing Boston For All Week, “said Councilor O’Malley, “The activists and artists behind these three great events have again created accessible and fun ways to support inclusion and justice here in our community.” O’Malley touted his enthusiasm for these events when he said, “I’m looking forward to seeing lots of neighbors during this important and festive week.”

The events include:

  • Run For All 3, a free community gathering culminating in a unified mile-long run/walk and including an opportunity to donate to Redes en Accion Venezuela and Komera. Run For All events raised nearly $10,000 for the ACLU and MIRA in the past two years. Run For All 3 will take place 10 a.m.-noon Sunday, June 9, on the field behind White Stadium in Franklin Park.
  • Dining for a Difference, with six popular local restaurants donating a portion of sales on a designated night to BIJAN. The lineup of restaurants featuring tapas, tacos, cocktails, burgers, comfort food and locavore specials is not to be missed!

Sunday, 6/9 - Tres Gatos | Monday, 6/10 - The Haven | Tuesday, 6/11 - Little Dipper

Wednesday, 6/12 - The Frogmore | Thursday, 6/13 - Vee Vee | Friday, 6/14 - Casa Verde

  • Art for All, co-sponsored by the Jamaica Plain Artists Association with 100% of sales going to BIJAN. Art for All will take place 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Spontaneous Celebrations, 45 Danforth St., Jamaica Plain.

“Offers to donate work have been pouring in,” said organizer and JP artist Ginny Zanger. “There will be a wide array of paintings, works on paper framed and unframed, collages, sculptures, and ceramics by talented artists whose work has been displayed in museums and galleries. Many of us feel that as artists, there is so little we can do to affect things in these troubling times and donating to BIJAN is a way to help promote justice through our creative work.”
