Boston Makers’ Holiday Party
December 10, 2015 @ 6:30 am - 10:00 pmFree
On Thursday, December 10, Boston Makers will open the doors of their makerspace to the local community for their first annual holiday party and tool drive. The makerspace, the first of its kind in Jamaica Plain, is located in the basement of Hyde Square Task Force's Cheverus Building at 361 Centre Street (behind the Blessed Sacrament church).
The party begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. and will feature refreshments, music, a photobooth, and raffle for a 3D-printed ornament. The event is free of charge and open to all. Boston Makers requests donations of tools, materials, and funding to help build electronics, woodworking, and craft stations in the makerspace. A list of items needed and description of the space can be found at www.bostonmakers.org/membership.
This is the first social event for Boston Makers since its successful Summer Social Series earlier in 2015, which was funded by a Kickstarter campaign and included field trips to makerspaces in Cambridge and Somerville, a screening of the Maker documentary, and a gathering at the Fab11 conference at Roxbury Community College. Boston Makers strives to provide free and low-cost learning and social experiences for Jamaica Plain and surrounding communities. They expect to provide additional workshops and open hours in the makerspace in early 2016 and offer memberships later in the year.
