Collections Up Close: Viburnums All Around
September 27, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
FreeFrom A (Viburnum acerifolium) to at least W (Viburnum wrightii var. eglandulosum), more than 70 viburnum species, hybrids, and cultivars at the Arnold Arboretum offer a unique look into the diversity of this shrub. Join Sue Pfeiffer, Arboretum Horticulturalist, for a look at both the horticultural characteristics of viburnum and the ongoing monitoring of the viburnum leaf beetle. Morgan Moeglein, Arboretum Visiting Fellow from Brown University, will offer a tour focusing on a study using the Arboretum’s collection to look at evolutionary traits of leaf form. Come for a tour and stay to enjoy the stunning ornamental fruits, technically drupes, displayed in blue, black, red, or yellow. Family activities are planned for the afternoon as well.
Event takes place near the Centre Street Gate to the Arboretum, opposite Faulkner Hospital.
