Holiday Basket Makers Needed at Community Servings

December 21, 2014 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

Community Servings ("CS") is a not-for-profit food and nutrition program, based in Jamaica Plain, providing services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses. 93% of our clients are living in poverty.  CS gives our clients, their dependent families, and caregivers appealing, nutritious and medically appropriate home-delivered meals. Since 1990, the Community Servings Holiday Basket Program has brought warm clothes, basic necessities, and holiday gifts to clients of Community Servings and their families. This year, we hope to fulfill the wishes of over 500 clients and their family members.

Since much of our clients' limited income is needed to cover healthcare and prescription costs, there is little left for basic necessities such as clothing, toiletries, and cleaning products. Moreover, living with a critical illness during the holiday season can be especially sad and isolating.  For some of our clients, the holiday basket that they receive from Community Servings is the only holiday cheer they will get.  That's why this program is so important.  You can make a real difference in the lives and well-being of our clients by participating in the Holiday Basket Program.

If you are interested in helping, please go to :  https://www.servings.org/event/holidays/basketmaker_registration.cfm and sign up now to be a basketmaker.  If you are interested in finding out more about the program, you can contact Andrea Pyke, VP of Programs, at 617-522-7777 or apyke@servings.org.
