Introduction to Prescribed Fire

Prescribed fire, when planned for and implemented properly, is an effective land management, restoration, and maintenance tool. Participants will receive an overview of: the resources available for assessing the benefits of prescribed fire; considerations for safe and responsible implementation of a prescribed burn; and guidelines on what to expect leading up to, during, and following a burn day. Participants are encouraged to bring information on a site where they are considering a prescribed fire. This course is designed as an introduction for land managers and is not intended to qualify anyone to conduct a prescribed burn.
