January 2 Vigil in Support of Black Lives Matter
January 2, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Everyone is invited to participate in this monthly Vigil in Support of Black Lives Matter. In honor of the January 15 Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we will begin this month’s Vigil with a reading of excerpts from his speeches and writings. We invite you to bring a favorite passage to share. The readings will be followed by a “call and response” reading of a representative list of names of people of color killed by racist violence, after which we will stand in Silent Vigil along Centre Street for 20 minutes to witness against white supremacy and for racial justice and human rights. We hope you will join us for what will be the 50th consecutive monthly Vigil as we remind ourselves, in the words of Dr. King, that “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
The Jamaica Plain News calendar is open to all local organizations and businesses.
