Not So Sweet 16 for the Arborway Bus Yard

April 23, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

On April 24, 2001, the City of Boston and the MBTA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) intended to mitigate the community’s concerns for the return of the buses to the Arborway Yard.  The MBTA promised to:

  • Build a permanent bus facility
  • Prohibit public parking on site
  • Provide strong environmental safeguards
  • Provide open green space
  • Reconnect the Emerald Necklace
  • Transfer 8+ acres to the City for community uses

It has been 16 years and the community has been left with empty promises and a “temporary” and failing facility.

We will be having a NOT SO SWEET 16 to draw attention to the plight and blight of the Arborway Bus Yard, and to commemorate 16 years of empty promises.
