From Director & OTP Core Member, Gloria Clark. "We’re so excited to be presenting theatre that is not just entertaining, but is also socially evocative and emotionally transformative! As both a citizen and an exile from Pinochet’s Chile, Ariel Dorfman wrote this play to compel spectators to acknowledge the country’s atrocious history and explore what their identities might be in the damaged nation.
This play, however, does not only speak to Chileans, but to any individual who faces ambiguous and contradictory pathways to identity and justice. In Death and the Maiden, personal testimony and memory become both a source of power and a major obstacle for obtaining retribution."
