Ponemah Bog Hike

May 7, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

$30 – $36

This 75-acre bog sanctuary features a 3-acre pond surrounded by a floating sphagnum mat and oak and pitch pine woods. We will see a host of bog plants, including pitcher plants, sundews, and tamaracks. The beauty of this kettle-hole bog is heavenly, and in fact, according to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Ponemah means “land of the hereafter.” Bring a bag lunch, a hand lens, and waterproof footwear.

Fee: $30 (Member) / $36 (Nonmember)
