South Street Summer Hot Dog Nights 20th Anniversary
State Representative Liz Malia and City Councilor Matt O’Malley will launch the 20th Anniversary of Summer Hot Dog Nights on Tuesday, June 30 at 5:00PM at the South Street housing development (125 South St. in Jamaica Plain). Cookouts will be held at 5:00PM every Tuesday through August 25.
“The police do a great job of coming out and interacting with the residents,” said Representative Malia (D-11th Suffolk). “I’m glad to see this wonderful tradition last twenty years. It really is a model that works and that should be used more often across the city.”
“Hot dog night is a special Jamaica Plain summer tradition and one I am proud to take part in every year. In addition to providing residents an opportunity to gather and eat together it allows us a chance to hear from them about how we can best serve all of the South Street housing development,” said District City Councilor Matt O’Malley.
Neighbors and residents of the South Street Boston Housing Development started the event to help build community and bring neighbors together. While the long-standing commitment of both elected and public safety officials to maintain the tradition may not address all the neighborhood’s issues, it does help provide a safe and healthy space for all attendees to interact one hot dog at a time.
