The Rashi School is hosting a parenting lecture with Dr. Michael Rich on Wednesday, December 11 from 7pm to 9pm a 8000 Great Meadow Road in Dedham. Dr Rich, who resides in Brookline, is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Associate Professor of Social and Behavioral Science at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a practitioner of Adolescent Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Rich will address the topic of “Reclaiming Childhood from the River of Electronic Screens,” sharing his views on encouraging children to imagine, play, and think outside of the screen.
Michael Rich is renowned for his popular “Ask the Mediatrician®” series, which provides research-based information and strategies to help parents, teachers, and clinicians guide children through the complex and omnipresent media environment. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions as well as speak with Dr. Rich on a one-to-one basis after his presentation.
Upon graduating college, Dr. Rich worked as a filmmaker in Japan for twelve years where he partnered with influential director Akira Kurosawa and then went to Hollywood where he worked as a "script doctor.” He became frustrated with writing scripts "by committee" and wanted to have a positive impact on the world. This led him to pre-med training and then to medical school.
