The Women of Brook Farm

March 29, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Celebrate Women's History Month and learn more about the women who resided at the Brook Farm, the utopian Transcdentalist community that was located in West Roxbury in the 1840s.

What did JP resident Margaret Fuller think of the Brook Farm experiment? Who was Mistress of the Revels, and what did she think of Margaret Fuller? Who were the hardest working members of the community? What was the "fancy" group?

Seven of the remarkable women who visited and joined the Brook Farm transcendentalist utopian community from 1841 to 1847 will be portrayed. The cast includes actress Jessa Piaia (as Margaret Fuller). Come to hear, in their own words, why the women of Brook Farm came, what they did there, and what they did following the ultimate demise of the community.

Free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. This event is co-sponsored by Jamaica Plain Historical Society, New Brook Farm, Inc. and the Boston Women's Heritage Trail and is being hosted by the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club.
