Sonatempo will introduce and play music in a variety of Latin styles such as son, bolero, cha-cha-cha, and guaguancó. Their repertoire and arrangements are committed to preserving the tradition and roots of the music, captivating the listener while serving as exciting dance music. The Tito Puente Music Series is presented by Berklee College of Music, IBA - Inquilinos Boricuas en Accíon, and City of Boston Parks and Recreation Department.

Salsa Class with Ritmo en Accíon, HSTF Youth Leaders

Ritmo en Accíon (REA) engages close to 40 teens in Afro-Latin dance. Low-income, disengaged Boston teens who struggle in school, nearly all of whom are Latino/a or Black, learn contemporary and classic Latin dance, teach dance to hundreds of youth and adults in the community, and advocate for dance classes in public schools. REA is a model for engaging urban teens through culturally-relevant art forms.

Allyssa Jones is a critically acclaimed educator, composer and performer. Currently serving the Boston Public Schools as Program Director for Performing Arts, Allyssa has also been an active music clinician and presenter for over fifteen years.  In 2001, Boston Magazine named her one of “40 Bostonians to Watch” for her work with vocal jazz and choral ensembles.
