Valdez Goes From JP Neighborhood Coordinator to City’s Economic Mobility Lab

Jamaica Plain has lost our neighborhood coordinator for the city in Alexandra Valdez. But the good news is that the city has gained a new director of engagement for its Economic Mobility Lab. "It has been my absolute pleasure serving as the Mayor’s Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Coordinator and the citywide Latina Liason for the past three years," said Valdez to Jamaica Plain News. "From attending community meetings about local issues, to helping new businesses open, I have learned so much from our neighborhood and how government is here to help its constituents. I have also learned a great deal from the many residents and activists who put in tireless hours engaging in our government to improve our neighborhood."

Alexandra Valdez Named New Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Coordinator, Remains City’s Latino Liaison

Longtime Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Coordinator Jullieanne Doherty is moving on to another position within City Hall, and is being replaced by Alexandra Valdez, who is a familiar face to many in JP. "It’s honor to be able to serve such an amazing neighborhood like Jamaica Plain. As the first bilingual coordinator to this role I’m committed to serving the community, but most of all community participation," said Valdez via a press release. "Jamaica Plain is a neighborhood full of culture and amazing small businesses (and) that’s one of the many aspects that makes it unique. I am excited to serve as liaison to the Jamaica Plain community while working with our residents to provide access to programs, initiatives, and facilitate delivery of city services to improve quality of life."
