Marijuana Dispensary Targeting June Opening Date in Forest Hills

A marijuana company is hoping to open for medical sales in June on Hyde Park Avenue, and eventually for recreational use. "Right now, we are close to finishing the build-out of the store and expect to open for medical sales in June," said Joseph Lekach, Chief Executive Officer of Apothca, to Jamaica Plain News. "We are currently working our way through the City of Boston’s process on adding a co-located adult-use dispensary as well and do not yet have a timeline for that." Apothca reached a host agreement with the city for medical marijuana in January 2019 for their location at 54A Hyde Park Ave. Apothca operates two medical/recreational dispensaries in Massachusetts, one in Lynn and one in Arlington.

Medical Marijuana Dispensary Has Host Agreement for Hyde Park Avenue Location

A medical marijuana dispensary has a host agreement with the city of Boston for a Hyde Park Avenue location, which would allow it to open up for business later this year in Jamaica Plain. Before the company, Apothca, Inc., opens in Boston, it must get approval from the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission to grant its application to move its dispensary in Holyoke to Jamaica Plain. The city and Apothca, a company that has dispensaries in Lynn, Arlington and Oregon, agreed to a host agreement on Oct. 19, 2018 for a location at 54A Hyde Park Ave. Financially, Apothca agreed to make quarterly payments of 3 percent of its gross revenue after the end of each quarter of the year for five years, according to the host agreement.
