On Saturday, just after police swarmed Jamaica Pond looking for three muggers who tried to rob a pair of dogwalkers, cops caught two people in a Franklin Park armed robbery with strong similarities to the Pond attacks.

Knife Pulled on Dog Walkers at Pond in Broad Daylight

On Saturday, three teens, one with a knife, approached two victims who were walking a dog on the Jamaicaway at the Pond. The incident comes less than 20 hours after a crowd of more than 50 attended an emergency community meeting for police to discuss their response to two Sept. 24 muggings. In one of those muggings, which took place late at night, the victim was left tied to a tree. Saturday's incident, by contrast, took place in broad daylight.

Police Vow to Keep Up Extra Patrols Until Pond Muggers Caught

Police brass tried to reassure a crowd of more than 50 concerned residents who gathered at the Pond Friday that they're doing everything possible to find two young men suspected in at least two armed robberies. But although police said they increased patrols immediately after one armed robbery came to their attention, and though armed robberies are down 33 percent in JP's District E-13, some residents came away unconvinced. "We did feel safe here," said resident Carmen Watkins. "I feel like there's an escalation now." Indeed, the morning after the community meeting, scanner traffic indicated another incident about 12:15 p.m. Saturday.

Police Update Descriptions of Pond Armed Robbery Duo

On Thursday police released a little more detail on the descriptions of two young men, one brandishing a gun, the other holding a knife, who held up people at least twice last week around Jamaica Pond. Police say both robbers were black or black and Hispanic. One stood 5-0 or 5-4 while the other was between 5-5 and 6-0. Their ages are estimated to be between 14 and 21. "We are looking for any additional information from any victims/witnesses," wrote Police Officer Carlos Lara.

Armed Robberies at Pond Spark Emergency Community Meeting

Police and residents have organized a community meeting at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Jamaica Pond boathouse/bandstand area to address two brazen armed robberies. The district police captain for Jamaica Plain, Alfredo Andres, will be there to discuss the police response to the incidents, which took place last week on Wednesday night. In one, a bicyclist was robbed and left tied to a tree. In another, the robbers approached a group of three people. Police Officer Carlos Lara encouraged residents to contact Capt. Victim Tied to Tree at Pond as Armed Robbers Strike Twice

Police confirmed that an armed robbery victim at the Pond was tied to a tree by his assailants. Further, a second armed robbery took place the same night. In a community alert issued Tuesday, police said they are seeking the public's help to ID two people described only as black Hispanic men in their 20s believed to be behind two armed robberies that took place Wednesday night. In the first, a man walking his bike on the footpath by the boathouse at Jamaica Pond about 11 p.m. was accosted by two young men. One had a black hand gun and told him to come into the bushes.

Bicyclist Robbed of Laptop, Phone and Cash at Jamaica Pond

The incident took place about 11 p.m. Wednesday, according to police logs. Two men accosted the dismounted bicyclist. One had a black hand gun and told him to come into the bushes.

Armed Robber Takes iPhone, $170 Cash From Victim in Forest Hills Parking Lot

On Wednesday night, a person was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot beside Forest Hills Liquor Mart, according to a police report. The victim told police it was about 9:50 p.m. when someone approached from behind and said not to turn around. The victim did anyway and saw that the robber had a black hand gun. The suspect rifled the victim's pockets and took $170 and an iPhone 5S, according to a police report. The suspect fled in toward Washington Street but the victim couldn't say which direction.
