Dr. Barbara Ferrer, Head of Public Health Commission, to Leave JP, Boston

Dr. Barbara Ferrer, a longtime Jamaica Plain resident, is leaving her post atopthe city's Public Health Commission for a job with the Kellogg Foundation. Mayor Marty Walsh's office announced the news on Monday. "For more than half of her 25-year public service career, Dr. Ferrer has led the City’s work to improve the health of all residents, particularly those most vulnerable," said a press release on the move. Ferrer, who stays on as executive director of the commission until Friday, Oct. 3.
