Hyde Square Task Force (HSTF) is one of 140 local nonprofits to receive grants of $100,000 to $500,000 each through Cummings Foundation’s $25 Million Grant Program. The organization, based in Boston’s Latin Quarter in Jamaica Plain, was chosen from a total of 580 applicants during a competitive review process. HSTF will receive $400,000 over 10 years. Hyde Square Task Force’s mission is to amplify the power, creativity, and voices of youth, connecting them to Afro-Latin culture and heritage so they can create a diverse, vibrant Latin Quarter and build a just, equitable Boston. In the coming year, HSTF will reach more than 600 children and youth through its Afro-Latin arts, education, and creative development programming.

Shattuck Partners will receive $100,000 over five years in support of their Community Transition Success Pack Program. Shattuck Partners, Inc. is an independent nonprofit that funds and provides arts, vocational, recreational, and therapeutic support programs and services for patients of the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, an important public health facility. Their Community Transition Success Pack Program provides backpacks filled with life essentials to patients as they return to the community.

Community Servings Awarded 10-Year Cummings Foundation Grant

Community Servings is one of 30 local nonprofits sharing in $10 million in funding from Cummings Foundation. The Jamaica Plain-based organization will receive $333,300 over 10 years. Founded in 1990, Community Servings provides medically tailored meals and nutrition services to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses. As medically tailored meal services are further integrated into patient-centered models of care, Community Servings expects to continue its rapid growth. “We are so grateful to the Cummings Foundation for this award and the $100,000 grant we received from them in June; it is an incredible demonstration of support of the healing power of food and our team’s mission to prepare and deliver nourishing meals,” said David Waters, CEO of Community Servings.

JP Nonprofit Boston Scores Awarded $100,000 Grant

Jamaica Plain-based Boston Scores is one of 100 local nonprofits to receive a grant of $100,000 each through Cummings Foundation's "$100K for 100" program. Thanks to the grant Boston Scores will be able to provide more students sports-based youth development programming. Boston Scores delivers sports-based youth development programs to economically disadvantaged Boston Public School students from kindergarten through 12th grade, using nationally recognized curriculums to address the needs, abilities and interest levels of each age group and to develop the whole child. Boston Scores creates teams around soccer and preserves those teams in the classroom to engage students in academic enrichment and civic learning activities. Boston Scores staff joined 300 other guests at a reception in Woburn on June 11th to celebrate the $10 million infusion into Greater Boston's nonprofit sector.
