Jamaica Plain’s Abby Maiello Boxing in Haymakers for Hope’s Belles of the Brawl for Dana Farber

Jamacia Plain resident Abby Maiello will be taking a shot at knocking out cancer by fighting in the annual Haymakers for Hope Belles of the Brawl charity boxing event. On Tuesday, December 7th at the House of Blues Boston, Maiello, along with 25 other brave individuals residing in the New England area, will be stepping into the squared circle at this year’s event to raise money for Haymaker’s beneficiary, The Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Haymakers opens registration to everyday professionals in the Greater Boston area who have never boxed and want to practice the sweet science in front of a sellout crowd at the House of Blues to literally fight for a cure. Participants get matched at local partnering gyms where they go through 4 months of intensive training with the culmination being a live fight night at the House of Blues. Since inception, Haymakers has raised more than $14.5 million.

JP’s Kristie Bezreh Sparring in Haymakers for Hope Belles of the Brawl to Beat Up Cancer

Forest Hills resident Kristie Bezreh is taking a shot at knocking out cancer by fighting in the 6th Annual Haymakers for Hope Belles of the Brawl charity boxing event on Wednesday, October 10th at the House of Blues Boston. Bezreh is amongst 32 other brave individuals residing in the Greater Boston and North Shore areas who will be stepping into the squared circle at this year’s event on October 10 to raise money for Haymakers’ beneficiary, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Funds raised will go towards cancer research and other cancer focused research facilities. Leading up to the main event, Bezreh was strategically paired with a boxing gym and coach to guide her through the vigorous four-month training cycle. Since its inception in 2009, Haymakers for Hope (H4H) has raised nearly $10 million for cancer research and has trained more than 500 participants by providing them with four months of free boxing training from prominent local gyms in anticipation of their first amateur sanctioned boxing match in front of a live audience.

Sometimes you just got put boxing gloves to punch cancer in the face. That's what JP's Chip Rives is doing by participating in Haymakers for Hope. Rives is fighting in the 8th Annual Haymakers for Hope Rock N’ Rumble charity boxing event on Thursday, May 17th at the House of Blues Boston. The money he raises will go to Family Reach, which provides assistance to families with a child or parent afflicted with cancer. He is one of 32 people who will don boxing gloves to raise money to defeat cancer.
