The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has holiday treats and bake-sale goodies this weekend, continuing through Sunday. Proceeds from the sale benefit the adoption center of the Jamaica Plain-based animal welfare organization. On Sunday, the sale runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The MSPCA is located at 350 S. Huntington Ave.

Egleston Square Tree Lighting: On Saturday, Egleston Square will celebrate the season with a tree lighting, carolers, "parrandas" and free hot chocolate. The event runs from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, with Mayor Marty Walsh expected around 5 p.m. for the actual tree lighting.
