In September 2015, work began: we broke ground on a renovation to the Jamaica Plain Branch of the Boston Public Library, a $10 million renovation that aimed to revitalize this community space, and ensure Jamaica Plain has a new, innovative library for residents to gather. I’m so proud to announce the renovation is complete. Together with the Boston Public Library, I invite all residents to join us for the branch’s grand reopening this Saturday, May 20th, at 11 am.
The city has announced a request for proposals from artists for a public art project at the Jamaica Plain Branch Library that is reopening on May 20.
As the grand reopening of the renovated Jamaica Plain Branch Library nears, the space is being activated in numerous ways, including a Friends of the JP Branch Library fundraiser on Friday night. Plus the Friends announced the artists who will have their art exhibited this year at the library.

The Jamaica Plain Branch Library currently being renovated has been selected as the first beneficiary of a new city program focused on bringing public art to Boston’s neighborhoods. This Thursday, there will be a community meeting for residents to provide feedback on what type of public art they’d like to see at the library.
