Open Archives with JP Tuesday Club at the Loring-Greenough House on Saturday

In celebration of American Archives Month the Loring-Greenough House will host a special behind-the-scenes look at its archives on Saturday. On Saturday, October 22nd from noon to 2 pm anyone is welcome to look at the archives and special collection of the Loring-Greenough House (12 South St.) and the Jamaica Plain Tuesday Club (JPTC). Join JPTC board members Emily Gonzalez and Tricia Gilrein as they show off select materials – scrapbooks, photographs, objects, clothing – from the collections. Learn more about the history of the women of the Tuesday Club, which was founded in 1896 by a group of women, purchased the house in 1924 and has been steward ever since then. In 2008, the club articulated a vibrant new community-oriented role for the House as a center for social, cultural, historical, and educational activities.
