Centre Street Partners Chosen to Complete Phase One of Mildred Hailey Apartment Redevelopment

Centre Street Partners, which is comprised of three local companies -- The Community Builders, Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation and Urban Edge, have been selected to begin the restoration of the Mildred C. Hailey public housing apartments. In February the Boston Housing Authority (BHA) announced they were seeking a private developer to renovate the Jackson Square apartment complex into a mixed-income community, with a commitment to preserve all of the existing affordable housing units. "In order to meet the housing needs of all of our residents, we must think creatively to preserve our existing affordable housing stock, while developing new housing," said Mayor Martin Walsh via a press release on August 8th. "I am pleased the Centre Street Partners share our goal, and look forward to the improved housing that will be built as part of this partnership." The proposed development will replace five existing, high-rise residential buildings on Centre Street with five new residential mixed-use buildings.

Let’s Get a Different Photo for Bromley-Heath on Google

Googling particular places and events often produces some interesting photos in search results. Sometimes those photos are accurate and reflective of the search item, sometimes they aren't and sometimes they don't convey a positive message -- like a photo that comes up on Google when searching for "Bromley-Heath." The photo in question depicts multiple Boston Police Department vehicles with flashing lights outside of the Bromley-Heath Housing Development in Jamaica Plain's Jackson Square. Luis Edgardo Cotto, executive director of Egleston Square Main Street, pointed to the photo on Twitter Monday afternoon:

Earlier this year, Bromley-Heath formally changed its name to the Mildred C. Hailey Apartments in honor of Hailey, who founded the Bromley-Heath Tenant Management Corporation (TMC). But there could be a fix: Users can apparently help change the photos that appear in Google searches by uploading new photos and suggesting an edit, as pointed out Tim Lawrence:

And it looks like Cotto, who is always championing JP, planned on adding some new photos tonight:

It would be fitting if the new photo came tonight, the same evening that city officials are gathering at the Mildred C. Hailey Apartments for National Night Out, an annual event that promotes community-police partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
