Volunteers are wanted for the 6th Annual Teatro en el Parque in Mozart Park happening on three consecutive days starting July 19th. This year’s performance by Escena Latina Teatro (ELT), a volunteer-run community theater group, will perform "Cumbia de me Corazón" by Toby Campion. It is being directed by Inés de la Cruz. Volunteers are needed to help setup, staff the event, and breakdown the information tables, between 4 pm and 9 pm on all three nights. If you're interested in volunteering please contact Erica Cannon at 617-477-9406 or email email@example.com.
Join you neighbors and make Centre Street look and smell amazing. We'll be planting daffodil bulbs and shrubs, and we'll spread mulch on street trees. If you can, please come with a wheelbarrow and/or a shovel. Meet at Mozart Park. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org so that we have enough coffee and breakfast snacks for you.
Come to Mozart Park to enjoy live outdoor theater with Escena Latina Teatro performing Botánica and enjoy dinner at our pop-up cafe featuring delicious complimentary food from neighborhood restaurants and music starting at 5pm. Show starts at 7pm. Play is in Spanish with English subtitles on a giant video monitor. Botánica, by Dolores Prida, is a comedy that takes place in an herb shop where the venerable Doña Geno, a spiritual leader in the community, concocts love potions, divines the future and dispenses spiritual cures. Originally set in New York, Escena Latina Teatro has adapted the play to Boston.
UPDATE: Prosecutors say taking this gun off the street might have prevented another shooting. "If his intent was to retaliate for that earlier shooting," Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said in a statement, "then Boston Police may well have saved a life when they made this arrest." ~~~~~
Hours after a person was shot at Wyman and Centre streets, police recovered a gun a block away. But it isn't clear if there's a connection between the two incidents. The shooting took place about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday near but not inside Pimentel Market, police confirmed.
