The Suffolk County District Attorney's office released key details Friday in their theory of how Kenny Lamour wound up shot dead on Centre Street two weeks ago. During the arraignment of Donte Henley, 24, of South Boston on a murder charge in the broad daylight killing on busy Centre Street, prosecutors argued Henley was working alongside Lamour doing community-service snow shoveling. Henley allegedly texted and called Josiash Zachery, 18, and told him to come to where the Roca Inc. crew was working, between Murray Circle and the Monument — and to bring a gun. Prosecutors claim Henley described what Lamour was wearing. "Mr. Henley called in the hit," Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum told West Roxbury Municipal Court on Friday.
Boston Police have arrested a second suspect in the shooting death of Kenny Lamour. The Hyde Park man was gunned down Feb. 11 at 891 Centre St. as he shoveled snow in a community service program. On Thursday, the police fugitive unit arrested Donte Henley, 24, of South Boston and charged him with murder.
The winter of 2015 isn't just space saver wars, ice dams and cabin fever. Texas transplants Kristy Nardone and Chris Haynes of Eliot Place turned the eight-plus feet of snow into a deluxe "snow bar" for the neighborhood. Nardone was kind enough to share these photos of the bar's evolution.
Kenneth Lamour, 21, of Hyde Park, was the man shot to death on Centre Street between the Monument and Murray Circle on Monday, according to prosecutors. His alleged killer, Josiah Zachery, 18, is also from Hyde Park. Jamaica Plain News is seeking full information on Lamour. We have confirmed with the Suffolk County District Attorney's office that his record included an alleged stomp-down of a Department of Youth Services worker when he was 18. In that 2011 incident, the worker had been punched to the ground by another resident of the Connelly Youth Center in Roslindale.
Police have identified the alleged killer in Wednesday's Centre Street violence. Police arrested and charged Josiah Zachery, 18, of Hyde Park with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and assault by means of a dangerous weapon on a police officer. Boston Police Officer Neva Coakley said the incident took place about 10:32 a.m. Wednesday in the area of 891 Centre St. According to police, an officer on patrol heard the shot and went to investigate. He saw one victim on the ground.
At least one suspect in Wednesday's fatal shooting fired at pursuing police officers on the mid-day streets of Pondside. None of the cops returned fire. Two people, including the person who allegedly shot at police, were taken into custody. Police Commissioner William Evans praised their restraint in a post on the department's blog. “None of our officers were injured," Evans said, "but again used tremendous restraint and regard for the safety of the public when quickly reacting and detaining these two individuals.”
Boston Police Officer Neva Coakley said the incident took place about 10:32 a.m. Wednesday in the area of 891 Centre St.
Police say at least some of those involved with Wednesday's fatal shooting on Centre Street were part of the Roca program, which works to keep young people out of jail. "It's deeply saddening," said John Ward, director of external affairs for the nonprofit social service agency. "We remain deeply committed to our mission of disrupting the cycle of incarceration and poverty." One man is dead, police say, and a man and woman are in custody. One of the suspects allegedly fired multiple shots at a police officer who tried to intervene.
One man is dead and a police officer took fire but did not return it in an incident that has shut down Centre Street from Murray Circle to the Monument. Boston Police Officer Neva Coakley said the incident took place about 10:32 a.m. Wednesday in the area of 891 Centre St. An officer, who according to the Boston Herald heard the shot and went to investigate, saw one victim on the ground and confronted the suspects. The police officer was shot at but not hit. He did not fire his weapon, Coakley said.
