Marijuana Dispensary Targeting June Opening Date in Forest Hills

A marijuana company is hoping to open for medical sales in June on Hyde Park Avenue, and eventually for recreational use. "Right now, we are close to finishing the build-out of the store and expect to open for medical sales in June," said Joseph Lekach, Chief Executive Officer of Apothca, to Jamaica Plain News. "We are currently working our way through the City of Boston’s process on adding a co-located adult-use dispensary as well and do not yet have a timeline for that." There will be a virtual job fair on Friday hiring for retail positions for the marijuana dispensary that will be opening later this year. AAA Appliances May Relocate Due to Proposed Marijuana Biz

A newly proposed recreational-medical marijuana business may take over the space of longtime Jamaica Plain business, AAA Appliances, which has been at its current location since around 1970. The owner of AAA Appliances, Eleonore Grassa, is also the owner of the 767-773 Centre St. block, and has signed a letter of intent with Giving Tree Health Center, said Brian Bairos, Giving Tree's board president, director, CEP and head of cultivation. An employee at AAA Appliances said that the business is not closing, and that it would either relocate to another Jamaica Plain location or possibly West Roxbury. AAA Appliances has been in Jamaica Plain for around 60 years, first in Hyde Square and in its current location since the 1970s.

Earlier this week, a recreational marijuana company, Core Empowerment, gained approval by Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeals, bringing it one step closer to opening in Jamaica Plain. The next step is for Core Empowerment to appear in front of the state’s Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) to get a license to open. Recreational Marijuana Dispensary/Social Justice Museum Proposed for Old Milky Way Site
