Jamaica Plain Man Charged With Assaulting Troopers at Protest

The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office announced that Jonathan Lees, 29, of JP, was arraigned on charges of disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a public employee during a Saturday afternoon protest against police brutality. Lees was among eight people who were arrested at that rally. Boston and other cities have been filled with protest in recent weeks in the wake of grand juries deciding not to indict police officers in the killing of black men in Missouri and New York, among other incidents. The other seven people arrested Saturday were charged with disorderly conduct, according to Jake Wark, spokesman for the District Attorney's Office. Prosecutors asked that the charges against those seven be lessened from criminal to civil complaints.
