Four Taken to Hospital in Carolina Avenue Basement Fire

Two workers suffered burns as fire broke out in a crawl space beneath a Carolina Avenue home on Saturday. Firefighters responded to 109 Carolina Ave. at 9:23 a.m. on Saturday to find they needed to bring in saws to get to the blaze, which was under the basement floor, according to Steve MacDonald of the Boston Fire Department. The workers were at the property to install insulation. Two suffered burns and another was taken to a hospital for evaluation, MacDonald said.

Victorian Mansion, Once Three Apartments, Now a $2.475 Million Single-Family

A Sumner Hill mansion — which the owners knitted back into a single-family house after it had been split into three units — is on the market. The 14-room house at 40 Greenough Ave. was restored by owners Diane Pienta and Dave O'Donohoe, as they explain in a video about the house. [selfie]

"Even though it's sad for us," Pienta says in the video, "it's time for it to be filled with new life. It's a happy home."

Bottles on a Backyard Fence

Each weekday we post an image from around the neighborhood for "Photo of the Day." Here's a view of one of the prettiest backyards you'll see in JP. If you have a photo that screams (or even whispers) "Jamaica Plain," here are three ways to nominate it as our "Photo of the Day":
