‘Sound of Music’ Starts Saturday at The Footlight Club

The nation's oldest community theater, The Footlight Club, brings the von Trapp family's story to life starting Saturday night in Jamaica Plain. "The Sound of Music" has been in the news lately with the death of Maria von Trapp at 99 at the family's Vermont home. Her mother, also Maria von Trapp, wrote the memoir that formed the basis of the Broadway play and Academy Award-winning movie. The well-known story also had a turn on live network TV back in December, with Carrie Underwood in the lead role. The Footlight Club's production is produced by Jesse Martin and Kristin MacDougall.
