Bye Bye Birdie opens at The Footlight Club on Saturday, November 8 and runs on weekends through Saturday, November 22, 2014. It’s 1958 in Sweet Apple, Ohio, and everything is topsy-turvy when rock and roll superstar Conrad Birdie plans a visit to plant his goodbye kiss on one lucky fan before going into the army. This great American stage musical is set in 1958 and has teenager girls fainting over the song “Honestly Sincere,” poodle skirts, Bobbie socks, landline telephones, going steady, slicked back hair, and The Ed Sullivan Show. Join us for a fun filled family experience full of famous songs, lots of smiles, and nostalgic charm. Cast includes: Michael Glicksman, Rebecca Glucklich, Scot Colford, Stephanie Chambers, Dave Levy, Britt Mitchell, Gordon Beford, Amanda Bedford, Dan Moore, Krista Forti, Meghan Edge, Brian Bakofen, and Stever Robbins.

‘Sound of Music’ Starts Saturday at The Footlight Club

The nation's oldest community theater, The Footlight Club, brings the von Trapp family's story to life starting Saturday night in Jamaica Plain. "The Sound of Music" has been in the news lately with the death of Maria von Trapp at 99 at the family's Vermont home. Her mother, also Maria von Trapp, wrote the memoir that formed the basis of the Broadway play and Academy Award-winning movie. The well-known story also had a turn on live network TV back in December, with Carrie Underwood in the lead role. The Footlight Club's production is produced by Jesse Martin and Kristin MacDougall.
