Calling All Gourmands: New Tour Highlights Jamaica Plain Food

A new tour with a Jamaica Plain foodie focus is making its way through the neighborhood while encompassing history, dessert, beer and delicious food. "We truly believe JP has the freshest, yummiest food in town," said Lizzie Bell, co-owner of Off The Beaten Path Food Tours and Experiences. With her husband Sam Schlussel, the duo launched the tour company, which has featured food tours in Harvard Square, Davis Square and Union Square. They launched their Jamaica Plain tour in March, and it's given on weekends. "Time and again, I found myself visiting Jamaica Plain because there is an incredible food scene here with lots of unique stories and history as well as a strong, neighborly culture that shines through," said Bell.


Enjoy Turtle Swamp Beer at Growler Gala and Auction on Oct. 26th

JP Centre/South Main Streets is holding a Growler Gala and Auction and your ticket includes beer from Turtle Swamp Brewing. As a tribute to the history of breweries in JP 12 growler works of art and decorated by local artists will be auctioned off. The growlers will be on display at 656 Centre St. (next to Ace Hardware) until Oct. 26th and will be purchased during a live auction at the event.


Turtle Swamp Brewing Opening on Washington Street in Spring

A new brewery, Turtle Swamp Brewing, said they're planning on opening on Washington Street this spring. Turtle Swamp Brewing's website is a simple page at this point with its logo featuring a turtle shell and barley, an old school map of Jamaica Plain and an info box to subscribe to their email list. Also, the proclamation that the brewery is opening during the spring. Former Harpoon brewer Nicholas Walther and partner John Lincecum are creating the Turtle Swamp brew house, according to Eater Boston. The brewery is currently being developed at 3377 Washington St.
