Two people were shot at the Bromley Heath housing development in Jackson Square shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

A call reporting the shooting at 277 Centre St. came into police at 3:47 p.m., according to Myeshia Henderson, a spokesperson for the Boston Police department. Two individuals were shot and were transported to an area hospital.

According to Police Commissioner William Evans, one victim was in his 30s and one in his 40s, and one suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, the other to his leg. Both are expected to survive. Read the Boston Globe coverage for additional details.

Police are seeking witnesses to the shooting.

Wednesday's shooting was the latest in a string of violent incidents on the stretch of Centre Street between Jackson Square and Hyde Square, including the Nov. 20 shooting in a parking lot near Wyman Street that left one dead and one seriously wounded, the Oct. 22 fatal stabbing of a teen at the Jackson Square T station, and a report earlier this week of a non-fatal shooting on Round Hill Street.
