Cardamom Quartet Performing at JP Library This Saturday

The Cardamom Quartet will perform a family-friendly concert at the Jamaica Plain Branch Library this Saturday.

The concert starts at 11 am and the quartet is actually performing a second concert later in the night at 8 pm at the Cambridge Friends Meeting House. These programs will feature music by Ethel Smyth, Florence Price, Julia Wolfe, and the quartet’s own Ariel Friedman.

Cardamom Quartet is a Jamaica Plain-based ensemble with a focus on music by women and non-binary composers. Committed to bringing music to a wide variety of audiences in the greater Boston area, Cardamom Quartet has performed in libraries, art galleries, houses of worship, senior centers, school programs, farmers’ markets, and living rooms throughout New England.

Recently, their cellist won New England Conservatory’s Alumni Award on behalf of the quartet. In 2017, Cardamom Quartet received a grant from the Boston Cultural Council to lead an art-science residency with students at Boston Arts Academy. Cardamom Quartet has been featured on multiple series at the Boston Public Library and, in 2015 and 2016, they completed residencies at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute.

In 2014, Cardamom Quartet was the string quartet in residence at El Sistema Somerville, an immersive after-school music program for elementary school students.
