Boston Makers Host Holiday Party in Jamaica Plain

On Thursday, the Boston Makers hosted the local community at their makerspace to for their first annual holiday party and tool drive. The makerspace, the first of its kind in Jamaica Plain, is located in the basement of Hyde Square Task Force's Cheverus Building at 361 Centre Street (behind the Blessed Sacrament church). The Boston Makers is a partnership with the Hyde Square Task Force. The party featured refreshments, music, a photobooth, and raffle for a 3D-printed ornament. BostonMakers requested donations of tools, materials, and funding to help build electronics, woodworking, and craft stations in the makerspace.

Boston Makers’ Summer Learning Series

Boston Makers presents a Summer Learning Series, four summer events to help you learn more about makerspaces and the maker movement! Boston Makers ( http://bostonmakers.org ) serves a diverse community of adults, teens, and children for Jamaica Plain and surrounding neighborhoods in Boston, Massachusetts by providing a safe, affordable and collaborative environment, access to mentors, peers, workshops, classes, tools and other resources that support the making of things that meld art, technology and culture in new ways. This summer we've organized a "Summer Learning Series" to help more people in Boston learn about maker spaces and the maker movement, including:

• Thursday, June 25th at 7 PM: Screening of "Maker" documentary ( http://makerthemovie.com ) at Hyde Square Task Force ( http://www.hydesquare.org ) at 361 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain

• Thursday, July 9th at 7:00 PM: Field Trip to Danger!Awesome ( http://dangerawesome.co ) at 10 Prospect Street in Cambridge, MA for a tour and etching activity (regularly $15). 6:30 departure from Jamaica Plain if you need a ride. • Thursday, July 23th at 8:00 PM: Field Trip to Artisan's Asylum ( http://artisansasylum.com ) at 10 Tyler Street in Somerville for a tour and social hour.
