Parks Crews Warned to Quit Carving Ruts

According to an entry in the city's complaint system, Parks Department crews have been asked to stop driving their trucks through muddy parks. A resident reported "awful" ruts over Glen Road path in particular and Franklin Park in general. Here's the city's response: "Case Closed. Case Noted. All Park dept.

Graffiti Artist Tags Solar Bench at Pond

Well, that didn't take long. The good news is the city has removed the graffiti. The solar bench, created by MIT brainiacs, charges phones and acts as a weather station. A resident reported the vandalism to City Hall via the Citizens Connect app. It's a great tool, and if you care in the least about your neighborhood and have a cell phone (that's you, right?) you should get the app.

Clogged Drain Creates ‘Giant Lake’ at Forest Hills Station

A resident reports that a clogged drain at Forest Hills Station's upper busway has caused a "giant lake." The resident used the city's Citizen Connect app to make the report. It's an easy way of letting the city know about graffiti, signal lights not working, sidewalks in need of repair and hundreds of other urban nuisances. The city responded to this particular report by sending the information to the MBTA, on whose property the lake has formed. Hat tip to Universal Hub for highlighting this Citizens Connect report.
