UPDATE: The JP Local First Fair has been postponed to June 27 due to inclement weather.
There are more than 165 independent businesses in Jamaica Plain and dozens of them will be participating in the 3rd Annual JP Local First Fair.
During the free fair you'll have the chance to learn more about locally-owned businesses and nonprofits that will have tables set up with info, products and services. In the past, you've been able to sample food and products, get free massages, learn about volunteering and more.
"One of the many remarkable things about our community is its great diversity of local and independent businesses and non profits," said David Warner, Chair of the Steering Committee for JP Local First, and owner of City Feed and Supply, adding that the fair is a great opportunity to make a new connection with a business you may not have known about already.
Another cool thing about the fair is that it's at the Loring-Greenough House (12 South St.) on Thursday night, so the food trucks will be there, too. There will also be live music from BSO Children's Choir, The Back Bay Drumming House Band, Chris Kaz and the Frotations, a bouncy house for kids (the kids, not the adults), and you're welcome to bring your own food to lay down a blanket and enjoy dinner.
The fair is from 3:30 pm to dark, and is free to attend.
