Secretary of State Galvin Speaking at Doyle’s on Tuesday Night

Secretary of State William Galvin, who is being challenged by fellow Democrat and Boston City Councilor Josh Zakim, will speak at Doyle's Cafe on Tuesday night. Galvin was first elected as Secretary of State in 1995. He will be speaking at a JP Progressives meeting, which is open to the public. The JP Progressives have chosen to endorse Mayor Marty Walsh for a second term over District 7 City Councilor Tito Jackson. JP Progressives, a chapter member of Progressive MASS, provided a lengthy and thoughtful endorsement. In the Sept. 26th preliminary election Walsh took 62 percent of the vote and Jackson received 29 percent. The two will face-off against each other in the Nov.

Gubernatorial candidate and Newton Mayor Setti Warren will be speaking at Doyle's Cafe on Thursday night. Warren will be talking at a JP Progressives monthly meeting that starts at 6:30 pm. Updates from JP Progressives on "resisting Trump's GOP," Raise Up Agenda, criminal justice reform, local elections and more will kickoff the event. A discussion with Warren will be around 7 pm. The two-term Newton mayor is a Democrat who previously worked in the White House when Bill Clinton was president, and also worked for former US Senator John Kerry.

Saying the nation is witnessing a massive corruption of the presidency worse than Watergate, the JP Progressives are hosting a conversation on Thursday on impeaching President Donald Trump. JP Forum to Discuss Progressivism During Trump

The JP Progressives organization is hosting a forum featuring the NAACP Boston, the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood and more on how Jamaica Plain residents can fight for progressive values. Ayanna Pressley Got the Most Votes in JP in At-Large City Council Election

At-Large City Councilor Ayanna Pressley not only topped the ticket across all of Boston in Tuesday's elections, but she received the most votes in Jamaica Plain, too. Pressley netted a total of 3,571 votes from Jamaica Plain's 20 precincts. Fellow incumbent Michelle Wu, who finished second throughout all of Boston, also came in second in JP with 3,161 votes. At-Large City Councilor-elect Annissa Essaibi-George, who came in fourth overall. came in third in JP with 2,796 votes.
