Latino Heritage Month Concert

Kick off Latino Heritage Month with a Salsa concert featuring Zayra Pola and 3nity, an all female Salsa orchestra! Join us for incredible music and dancing on Friday, September 15th at 7:00 pm on the Blessed Sacrament Church Plaza (361 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130). Art pieces by Massiel Grullon will be unveiled during intermission and free ice cream will be provided! This event is a part of Hyde Square Task Force’s ¡Viva el Latin Quarter! community programming.

Teatro en el Parque

Come to Mozart Park to enjoy live outdoor theater with Escena Latina Teatro performing Botánica and enjoy dinner at our pop-up cafe featuring delicious complimentary food from neighborhood restaurants and music starting at 5pm. Show starts at 7pm. Play is in Spanish with English subtitles on a giant video monitor. Botánica, by Dolores Prida, is a comedy that takes place in an herb shop where the venerable Doña Geno, a spiritual leader in the community, concocts love potions, divines the future and dispenses spiritual cures. Originally set in New York, Escena Latina Teatro has adapted the play to Boston.

Carolers Fill Forest Hills T With Song

Local Latter-Day Saints sang carols during the Monday commute. The large group's singing gave the bustling station a different atmosphere than usual. When Jamaica Plain News passed by around 7 p.m., Sister Sophie Brooks said the group had been singing for a few hours. While the nearest Mormon temple to JP is in Belmont, there is an LDS meetinghouse just south of JP in Roslindale on Mount Hope Street.

JP Band has Opportunity to Perform in One of Brazil’s Most Important Theaters

Filmed by Marco Perfetti in a Jamaica Plain kitchen. Acadêmicos de Milton Friedman is a Brazilian music group based in Jamaica Plain that has been gaining huge attention since the year of 2014. Since their foundation, the Acadêmicos band has reached more than 8,500 followers on Facebook in Brazil, without even playing a single concert there. With their music videos available online, their appeal have reached a wide young and mature audience all over Brazil, and these numbers keep ascending quickly, reaching its peak at the upcoming performance for the 2nd Forum of Liberty and Democracy on Oct. 19th this year.
