The officers and volunteers of Boston Police District E-13 in Jamaica Plain want to take this opportunity to offer our great appreciation to all of the sponsors who helped with the Fishing Derby on June 30. Almost 400 kids, parents, friends and neighbors all enjoyed a sunny, fun-filled afternoon of fishing and games at beautiful Jamaica Pond. The derby was the 2nd Annual Catch & Release with the Boston Police, organized by the officers and staff of BPD, District E-13. With generous help from many local sponsors, the kids received fishing gear, food, cold drinks, music, games, raffles, demonstrations and more. This free, fun local event was very much appreciated, as seen in the smiling faces at the Pond throughout the afternoon.

Held on June 30th, more than 300 kids enjoyed hours of fishing, games, prizes, food, cold drinks, music, shows -- and a special guest appearance from Charlie Moore, The Mad Fisherman, from NESN! The Boston Police would like to thank all of the BPD volunteers, staff, and community sponsors who made this beautiful day of family fun a reality.
Who will catch the biggest fish at the annual Boston Police District E-13 Kids' Fishing Derby on June 30? Well, whomever catches biggest fish, or the smallest, will need to toss it back into Jamaica Pond as it's a catch and release fishing derby. Free fishing lessons will be offered at this free fishing derby for children 14 and younger. Limited fishing equipment will be supplied on a first come, first serve basis. Or bring your own fishing equipment.
The Boston Police Department E-13 Community Service is hosting its first ever free Catch and Release Kids Fishing Derby at Jamaica Pond this weekend. And don't worry there will be (limited) loaner fishing poles, too. There will be fishing instruction, music, police and environmental instructions and trophies. This is a family-friendly event with prizes, raffles, drinks and more.
